Description

When Scarlet realized Penelope was dumping Sean, her best friend, she was devastated. Penelope was the love of his life, the woman of his dreams. Scarlet knew how far her best friend was going to fall and she had to catch him. Scarlet became Sean’s rock and helped him through a very painful breakup, but her own hidden desires bubbled to the surface in the process. When they finally gave in and slept together, she thought it was the start of their new relationship. Unfortunately, Sean didn’t feel the same.

Humiliated and heartbroken, Scarlet moved across the country and found what she least expected. She rekindled her damaged relationship with her brother, who she hadn’t spoken to in a year, and her brother’s best friend was attractive and interesting. Their relationship was natural and unforced, and she was immediately drawn to him. Would she be able to get over Sean, forget about him, by sleeping with Cortland, or would that just be another repeated mistake?

THIS IS NOT A CLIFFHANGER

*Recommended for mature audiences 17+ due to strong language and sexual content.*

Really well written series with good characters and multiple story lines. Currently on book 9, but warning, there is some of the worst editing and proofreading I have ever seen. Actually makes it difficult for an avid reader because it slows you down and quickly becomes annoying.

Only for You by E.L. Todd is the first book in her Forever and Always series. In this book we meet two best friends, Scarlet and Sean. What they have always assumed is a completely platonic relationship actually contains unrealized undercurrents of more that neither have ever acted on or been aware of over the years. When Sean is dumped by the woman he was almost about to propose to, Scarlet is there to help him through. When their one night of passion goes horribly awry the next day she hightails it out of New York and heads to her brother in Seattle for refuge. Taking advantage of the fresh start and the escape from heartbreak and an abusive boss, Scarlet finally gets on her feet with the loving and generous help of her brother and his best friend. Well-paced with great character development this was an interesting beginning into the lives of Scarlet and Sean. This is the beginning of their story which then continues in Forever and Always, book two in the series. While at times I wanted to throttle both of these characters for their naïveté, some of their rash decisions were closer to what people would actually do in real life and I appreciated that they were not perfect.

It was rushed and completely misleading. The author sets you up to believe Scarlet will move on and find herself and maybe something new but in the end she doesn't. She just dismissed everything and didn't have time to get over it. The ending is HORRIBLE and so is the book. Do not waste your time reading this.

This is one of those sexy, can't put it down love stories. Some parts are a bit dramatic, some are a bit rushed. Overall, you are able to develop an attachment to the characters and hope the best for them. Careful though, there's at least 6 books in the series so you could be at this for a while. Simple read, finished it in one sitting. Enjoyed the ride ;)

Do we believe or trust Sean? The box of pictures scene, specifically, has me questioning. There are so many things I felt were left unresolved for his character and yet Scarlet's voice was very clear. Will Scarlet really understand? Sign of a good writer that I have questions or that I embraced a character so much? Yes, that's it!! Loved Cortland and Ryan...great, solid characters with mystery around Ryan for sure! I suppose you'll have to read and find out what I'm talking about.
